On October 2, 2020, within the XIV International Exhibition for Defense Equipment and Services "Hemus 2020 - Defense, Antiterrorism and Security", demonstration shootings were held at the Central Artillery Technical Test Range "Zmeyovo" (CATTR).

The Tenth International conference "Research and Investment in technological innovation – a crucial factor for defence and security" was held on the 1 of October, 2020 within the XIV International Defense Equipment and Services Exhibition "Hemus 2020 – Defense, Antiterterrorism and Security". The “Professor Tsvetan Lazarov” Defense Institute and “Hemus-95” Foundation were co-organizers of the event.

On September 30, 2020, the Defence Institute started  its participation in the XIV International Defence Equipment and Services Exhibition "Hemus 2020 - Defence, Antiterterrorism, Security". Traditionally, it holds in the International Fair Plovdiv under the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Economy patronage.

On August 13, 2020, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United States in Bulgaria, Her Excellency Herro Mustafa visited the Professor Tsvetan Lazarov Bulgarian Defense Institute. She was welcomed by the director, Colonel PhD Dimitar Kirkov.

Тhe European Scientific Networks National Program of the Ministry of Education and Science was approved by a decision No 557/06.08.2020  on the Council of Ministers. The Defense Institute is one of the thirteen Bulgarian organizations, received high praise in the last three competition sessions of "Twinning" and the only military scientific organization in the defense field. It is the coordinator of one of the approved projects and participates in another project of the National program with budget of over 12.6 million BGN for the period 2020 to 2022.
