June 2020:

Dear colleagues,

On June 4, 2020 for another 11th year, we stand with a sense of fulfilled duty in front of our patron – "Professor Tsvetan Lazarov" and in front of the manuals of the Ministry of Defense and the Bulgarian Army!

On this date we mark the creation of the Defense Institute – the birth of our efforts, tireless work, deprivation and joy!

An institute, as its creators dreamed of it!

An institute, as we have today!

An institute that we should bequeath to our younger colleagues and generations!

The 11th anniversary is an occasion to congratulate you again and show my respect to all of you – scientists, researchers, engineers and experts who, with your extensive experience, diligence, selflessness and daring, perform your professional duties!

I use the occasion to congratulate you on the occasion of the holiday and most sincerely wish you health, happiness, family joys and many new creative and professional successes!

Happy Holiday, Dear colleagues!

Since June 9, 2020, the Bulgarian Defense Institute "Prof. Tsvetan Lazarov" is a member of  Crossref - an organization with over 16,000 scientific publishers from 118 countries!
Membership in this organization allows the Defense Institute to assign its own digital identification number - to the published journals, collections of reports, dissertation papers and other publications. This universal number identifies electronic documents and helps manage their intellectual property and identity.

On June 18, 2020 the Bulgarian Defense Institute  held training of employees to work with the Centralized Automated Information System "Electronic Procurement". It was discovered by the Director of the Institute – Colonel PhD Dimitar Kirkov. Guest lecturer at the seminar was Mrs. Mariana Katsarova – lawyer, expert in public procurement. The aim of the seminar is to get to know the architecture and main aspects of the electronic platform and to acquire practical skills to work with it.

The Bulgarian Defense Institute "Prof. Tsvetan Lazarov" published the new issue of the Journal of Defense and Security Technologies (Volume 3, June 2020).

The main focus of this volume is on the approaches for a long-term forecasting of the trends in the development of the defense technologies. It is dedicated to the results achieved in the framework of the European Defense Agency Project „Predictive methodology for Technology Intelligence Analysis“(PYTHIA), carried out in the period 2018-2020.

The articles cover topics like: the defence strategy and new disruptive technologies nexus; the human factor-based failures in technology forecasting; the approaches for prioritisation of national interests of the EU Member States; the approaches to counter hybrid threats; the conceptual modelling in simulation of military logistics processes.

The editors of the volume are Prof. Dr. Sc. Yantsislav Yanakiev and Dr. Giuseppe Vella - coordinator of PYTHIA project.
