The 46th meeting of the Рanel "Information Systems and Technologies" (IST Panel) of the NATO Science and Technology Organization of (NATO STO) was held from 12 to 16 October, 2020. Due to COVID-19 complicated situation it took place entirely online. During the meeting were discussed issues about the new information and communication technologies, developed to support the Alliance.
Traditionally, a new  Chairman of the IST Panel is elected for a period of two years at the autumn meetings. The choice of Col. Ass. Prof. PhD Nikolay Stoyanov - Deputy Director of the Professor Tsvetan Lazarov Defence Institute for Chairman of the IST Panel is undoubtedly a great recognition for Bulgaria.  
Since our membership in the Alliance, the Republic of Bulgaria has for the first time representative in such a high and responsible position in the NATO (STO). 
This is another proof for the expertise and dedication of our researchers and scientists in carrying out the researches, maintenance and accompanying of NATO projects and experiments, as well as recognition of the enormous scientifically capacity of the Defence Institute in the field of security and defence.
